Valentine’s Day at Springhill Care Home

on .

Everyone at Springhill Care Home in Accrington got involved with marking Valentine’s Day recently.

Residents helped to create some lovely displays which were shown off around the home, including a memory tree of romantic reminiscences, balloons and plenty of paper hearts.

Visitors to Springhill commented on how much they liked the displays, including family members and even visiting doctors.

We were also visited by local singer Ian Jenkins, who sang plenty of love songs for the occasion. One of our residents, Ann, even presented Ian was a cake on his arrival. He was thrilled, and we all had a great time singing along and reminiscing.

Creative Sewing

on .

AnnOur Springhill Care Home residents really enjoy attending our sewing club and have recently just completed their latest creative sewing projects that they carried out during our regular Tuesday afternoon sessions.

One of our residents Ann, has a real talent for sewing and has completed lots of personalised projects over the years, including a special bag that she sewed herself for a trip to Lourdes.

Well done everyone, we can’t wait to see what your next sewing projects will be.

Thanks to Gemma

on .

Shannon, Joanna, Gemma. Gail and KarenEveryone at Springhill would like to thank Gemma, from St Augustine’s RC High School in Billington, for her hard work recently as a work experience student on our lifestyle team.

Gemma, 14, opted for Springhill Care Home for her placement as her mother Pam is part of our housekeeping team.

She chose to work in a care setting as she would like to consider working in care after attending college to study health and social care.

Gemma said that she really enjoyed her time with us, getting to know our residents and helping to plan and participate in all our activities.

We’ve really enjoyed having Gemma on the team, and hope her experience has given her a great start for a future in the care sector.

Wine and cheese on the menu at Springhill

on .

Cheese and wine at Springhill Care Home Members of our lifestyle team visited resident’s rooms recently to personally offer them a selection of wine, cheese and crackers to sample as they relaxed.

After serving our residents in the lounge areas, the lifestyle team went around the home with trollies especially prepared for the cheese & wine occasion. Also on offer were a variety of drinks including gin & tonic, lager, bitter, sherry, port and wine, along with old-fashioned pop such as dandelion and burdock, root beer and cream soda.

Residents were thrilled at the chance to sample the cheese and the drinks on offer, in the comfort of their own room.  They happily raised a toast to the team whilst talking about their favourite cheese and tipple!

Let Pat, entertain us

on .

Pat entertains at SCHPopular entertainer Pat Masterson had everyone moving and grooving when she visited Springhill Care Home recently.

Our residents loved Pat’s entertainment routine, and they quickly started singing along whilst moving and dancing in their chairs, with some even enjoying a dance with our lifestyle team.

Many people have asked if Pat can make a return visit to Springhill, and we’re happy to say that we are all looking forward to seeing her again soon.

It’s wonderful to often hear music in our home as we believe that “Music is undoubtedly the key to your soul”
