Walking for the memories

on .

The family of one of our residents at Springhill Care Home took part in a recent Memory Walk to raise money for charity.

The walks have taken place up and down the country to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, and recently the family of Terry Smith took part in one held in Blackpool.

Following the 2km walk the family including his wife, daughter and granddaughter, all popped into see him to report the good news.

Well done to you all on raising money for such a worthy cause.

Getting into the Halloween spirit

on .

Residents were busy at Springhill Care Home getting into the spirit of Halloween recently.

Some wonderful paintings were done in the Milnshaw Lounge including an autumn tree and bats.

How many Halloween paintings can you spot around our home?

Shortlisting success for Springhill Care Home

on .

Springhill Care Home are celebrating this week after Susan Balaz was shortlisted for The Good Nurse Award at the care industry’s top awards.

The Great British Care Awards is one of the top dates in the care sector’s calendar, with a range of regional heats held across the country before a national final.

Sister home, Birch Green Care Home has also been recognised in six categories and we would like to congratulate and wish them all well for the interviews that are due to take place in Manchester this week.

We also have our fingers crossed for our colleagues at Riversway Nursing Home in Bristol for the South West Care Awards shortlist, which is due to be announced later this month.

Charity bake-off at Springhill

on .

It was a tense morning at Springhill Care Home as a cake competition got underway for a charity coffee morning.

Around the UK organisations took part in the Macmillan Cancer Care coffee morning, and at Springhill a number of our staff took part in a bake-off.

Springhill Care Group chairman Ken Nolan and his mother, Theresa, judged the cakes and in the end the winner was staff member Karen who was gobsmacked.

Runner up was Lee Wolstenholme, and the other competitors were Joanna Taylor, Donna Barker, Bernadette Bennett and Michelle Walsh.

A great day was had by all.

Raising funds for Paige

on .

We’re a real family at Springhill Care Home and we knew we wanted to step up and support a member of staff when she fell ill.

When we heard Paige Duval of the lifestyle team was not well, we got together to arrange an all-day fundraising event at the home.

Staff, residents and family all joined in with the event, which included a dress-down-day for staff and a special ‘pie in the face’ activity featuring our very own General Manager, Curtis Bennett.

Curtis finished the day looking like the Marshmallow Man from the movie ‘Ghostbusters,’ and in the end £100 was raised for Paige and her family.
