As part of celebrations across the country to mark Care Home Open Day, residents and staff welcomed friends, family and members of our local community into our home.
There was a visit from some stunning birds of prey thanks to Lancashire Hawks and Owls, regular visitors to Springhill, and a traditional fairground organ and games as well as delicious treats on offer at the cake stall and cocktail bar.
We were also joined by John Pomfret from the Care Quality Commission, who took part in a dementia experience coordinated by Paige from our lifestyle team. It’s an effective way of simulating the symptoms associated with dementia by participating in activities designed to impair the senses and create confusion.
Springhill chairman Ken Nolan said: “There were some fantastic stands and the staff did a terrific job of coordinating the day. The dementia experience is superb and always leaves a lasting impression, and it was good of John Pomfret to join us.”
It was great to get together with friends and family to shine a light on the good work done in care homes and give people a taste of what Springhill is all about.
Visitors wishing to pop by and meet us can do so at any time – just get in touch and we’ll arrange to show you some of our industry-leading facilities.
